Critical Position Zones
Elmer "Ras" Rasmussen's developed an enhanced version of De Lynne Colvert's 26-strategy using board position. Whereas Colvert has single positional holes that act as objectives, Rasmussen indicates that the further you are into the zone, the better the odds of a win. HALSCRIB introduces a 25-theory version of Rasmussens' approach.

In HALSCRIB, only the current non-dealer's 26-theory zone objective is displayed. In the screen shot, the zone begins at hole 17. If 25-theory were the Hint choice, then hole 21 would be the objective.

See Hint - target for Colvert's targets based on 26-theory.
See the bottom of the screen at Hint - 25-theory for the zone based on HALSCRIB's 25-theory variation.
Hint Targets
De Lynne Colvert's strategy based on 26-theory uses the fact that the dealer's pegging, hand and crib points average 16 holes, and non-dealer's pegging and hand average 10 holes per deal. Working backwards from hole 121, these holes are objectives that indicate where dealer should be such that on the final deal, the winner as non-dealer will be at hole 111 with first count.

In HALSCRIB, the target holes for both players are indicated and color-coded for strategy:
violet = SAFE, red = DEF(ENSE), yellow = OPT(IMAL), green = OFF(FENSE), aqua = BOLD.
In the screen shot below, HAL's target is hole 8 (strategy is defense) and the player's target is hole 18 (strategy is offense).
